Universal is a fictitious space concept album by one of my favorite Mexican bands, Zoé. Designed entirely in Spanish, Universal confines space in its design. Most of Zoé’s music is an indie rock style genre; I tried mimicking that feel on the cover by adding the moon and pink clouds. As a space concept album, the track list also references space.

While researching for this project, I constantly looked at pictures of space and planets. The beautiful colors of supernovas inspired the teal and pink across the whole design. I also researched how Zoé designs their albums, which gave me insight into how to approach the overall over and packaging. Below is the complete design with a CD Cover and CD mock-up.

My inspiration for the space concept came from my fascination with space exploration, which influenced the album’s name, Universal. Universal means universe in Spanish, having the album feel connected to the universe. With this in mind, I also found photographs I took of the sky and the moon and combined them using Photoshop.
